USING THE EARTH TO HEAL YOUR BODY
I used to believe that I had no tolerance to pain. Now I know that's not true, for pain has been my constant partner. Pain will happen, when you walk day after day, doing as much as eighty kilometres one day and perhaps seventy the next. Sometimes it's so severe that I cry out in agony as every single bone in my body screams for mercy, and yet, next day I get up and do exactly the same thing. Occasionally, when my body had been pushed to the limits, crowds of supporters, sometimes in their thousands, have wished me well, spurring me on with their positive energy. But what do I do when I am alone and hurting, sleeping beneath the stars on rock hard earth, with just a mat for comfort? How do I heal myself?

In 2005 the Japanese publisher of my biography asked me to contribute twelve chapters of 'Universal Wisdom' the phrase I created to explain my approach to life.
Every now and again one of these T'Chings will be featured here.

USING THE EARTH TO HEAL YOUR BODY (PART 2)

First I lay flat on my back painfully stretching out my spine until my back has painfully straightened out. Then I set my mind to the Earth. I see the centre of the Earth as a gigantic magnet and my spine as a peace of metal. I visualise the magnet drawing the pain from my body, straightening my spine.
Next I go into my body through my mind. I see myself within the sore joints and in those joints I create space. Mentally I free the joints, which releases the pain so much that I can actually feel my joints relaxing, stretching. With the relaxation I fall to sleep. In the morning I awake, and though I may be stiff, the soreness is gone and I can continue.
